Flat replacement retaining ring for the Chrysler UD/OD reaction plate upper retaining ring.
The factory beveled retaining ring is a common failure point in RFE transmissions and is often found broken during disassembly. This flat replacement retaining ring reduces the excessive tension commonly placed on the OE beveled snap ring, helping prevent breakage and improve long-term serviceability.
When replacing the original beveled retaining ring, MPT recommends checking reaction plate rise while also verifying underdrive clutch clearance. This procedure is easiest when using a dedicated fixture and shop air.
Once installed, the UD/OD reaction plate should be held securely in place with minimal to no fore-and-aft movement.
The flat design is also significantly easier to remove than the factory beveled snap ring, making future transmission service and disassembly simpler.
