Description
This spring helps slow the apply and speed the release of the second gear band. MPT has found it helpful for improving shift quality in applications with a 4.4 or higher apply lever ratio, tight direct drum clutch clearance, or aftermarket servos that increase second gear apply speed.
It can also help reduce the bind-up or “tapping the brakes” feeling during the 2-3 upshift, including 2-3 shift bind-up in manual valve body applications. Some experimentation may be required. MPT has found that this spring works best by itself with factory-style servos and in conjunction with the factory spring when using an aftermarket servo.
